What Can Medical Marijuana Do?

Now that medical marijuana has been legalized in my states in the US, there are more and more people wanting to get info on medical marijuana in San Francisco and other places around the country. Though the government has implemented strict medical marijuana laws, some people are still not aware on what they could benefit from the use of medical weed.

Many studies and experiments on both humans and animals have shown great discoveries about the said ‘magical plant’. For starters, marijuana has been found to have two active chemical compounds that affect the body the most – cannabidiol or CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

These two cannabinoids work on the body similarly and differently. They are similar in some of the results of how these two activate receptors in the body. However, they are different because CBD is not psychoactive while THC is. This means that only THC is the one that gives the user the ‘high’.

Medical marijuana has both CBD and THC in regulated amounts. Most producers of the said drug take advantage of the benefits of both compounds and enhance them to create a better drug. These drugs now claim that they are effective and safe enough for consumers and can treat different kinds of diseases including chronic pain, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, digestion issues, epilepsy and more. They are also said to improve psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia among others.

Of course, there could still be side effects and the issue of dosage. Overdosing is one problem that could only be regulated by the user himself. The wrong dosage could cause the medical condition to worsen or could trigger a different kind of illness. However, if the user follows the medical marijuana laws and knows the restrictions and safety of taking medical weed, then side effects and problems of using the drug would be at minimum.
